視力の届く範囲と歩くスピードとで僕らの思考範囲は決まっているのだろうか

なんだか知らんが変なタイトル。
いや、いつでもなんかしらを頭の片隅で考えているわけで、今日自転車に乗っていたときに思いついた事を書いてみるだけだったり。

ウチからふと見上げると六本木キルズが東京の空を肉厚な稜線で切り取っているのだが、遠くにあるように見えても歩いてみればまぁ10分程度で着いてしまうわけだ。

もし僕が粘菌のように一日に50センチとかしか動けないような生き物であるならばたどり着くまでに一万日かかるわけで（計算あってるのか？）、つまり人生の大半を必要とする大事業になるということになる。
もちろん粘菌には自分が一生をかけてもたどり着けないほどに遠い（つまり自分の存在がインフルエンスを与えない）存在を認識することは出来ないだろうとも思う。そのように自然の摂理は出来ているというわけだ。もちろん1万日も行き続ける粘菌もいないだろうし、そこらへんはバランスというか。
逆に、そのような移動をあえて行うことが出来るのであれば、それは僕らの“移動スピード/思考スピード”の組み合わせを持つ生物からは全くかけ離れた哲学/思想を持っているであろう事は想像に難くない。

一方で僕が鷹や燕のように時速100キロとかで飛ぶことができるのだとしたら一瞬でたどり着くことができる。それこそ思考する暇もないくらい。（いや、思考スピードが移動スピードと正比例するのであればその限りではないがその可能性はここではとりあえず置いておく）
加えて考えるに鷹や燕は非常に遠くまで見通せる視力を有している。

ここまで考えると、その生物の持つ視力（知覚能力）の限りの最果てへと到着するまでにかかる時間というものは、もしかしたら人間が遠くを見渡してそこへたどり着くまでの時間とあまり変わらないのではないか、という茫漠とした感想も沸いてくる。
※渡り鳥などの生態に関してはここでは置いておくとして。「意思」の問題だからね。

ここで歴史を振り返って考えてみると、人間という生物はおよそ自分の知覚能力の範囲を大きく超えた旅をすることも多い。潮の流れに乗って環太平洋文化圏ができた…　などというのは恐らくは意思を持った旅ではなかっただろうが、少なくとも江戸期には東海道を定期的に旅していたわけだ。しかし自主的に東海道を旅をしていた犬や猫はいなかっただろう。いたとしたら長靴を履いているに違いない。
ここには“情報”という「自分以外の知見」に対応するモチベーションがあったということなんだろうかな。
「寒くて仕方がない」という生物的モチベーションから追われるように地続きのアリューシャン列島を横断した、などというのは正しくは「意思｣の問題ではないだろうが、そこであっても世代を超えたモチベーションの伝播はあったのだろう。

でもってさらに飛躍して、これが松や杉などの樹木であるならば、自らの移動ははなから諦めて種子や花粉を遠くへと播布するという「哲学/思考」がメインになるのかもしれない。
縄文杉やメタセコイヤなど、生き抜いていくスパンが人間とは比較にならないほど長いものもあるわけで、さらに“移動スピード/思考スピード”の組み合わせが異なるため全くかけ離れた哲学/思想を持っているのかもなぁ、とも思う。

時に、人間が自らの移動能力をはるかに超える場所（分野）へと移動したい（関与したい）場合には自転車や車、飛行機、ロケットといった移動機関を発明してきたという歴史がある。
（なぜ樹木と違うのかというと、ココの距離部門によれば最大で飛ばしても35メートルだから、ということなのかもしれない）
「移動距離」以外にも「時間」を超えるということであれば文字の発明による情報の伝播が大きいのだろうか。
見る前に飛べ方式の無鉄砲な輩による辺境の拡大というのも文明のあるステージにおいては意味のあることだろう。
一方のバランスの軸となる知覚能力についてもそうだが、電子技術による知覚範囲/作用範囲/スピードの拡大という面も多分にある。

さてここでさらに飛躍して人ではなくマシンについて考えてみる。
たとえばグリッドコンピューティングは…

…なぁんて事を縷々考えていると六本木ヒルズに着いてしまったのだった。
5分の思考範囲なんてのはこんなもんだわな。
